Pirie Street venue Prompt Creative Centre run by local artists Libby Trainor Parker and Matthew Trainor is proud to be offering a stack of shows for the 2024 Cabaret Fringe program.
Packed with cabaret, comedy, burlesque, live music and a splash of wine tasting, Libby and Matt are excited to be hosting and toasting some of the spiciest local talent Adelaide has to offer.
“We are excited to be performing our own shows, curating a couple of stellar line up events, and providing a space for other artists to present their work,” Libby says. “We’ve got live music, wine tasting, burlesque, comedy and even a little pole dancing, so it’s going to be a sumptuous feast for the senses!”
The season is headlined by Cabaret Uncorked, a collaboration between Prompt Creative Centre and Forage Supply Co. and is an exclusive, one show only event pairing world class wines with top notch cabaret artists.
Forage, run by former Port Adelaide footy club superstar Justin Westhoff and his best mate Scott Rogasch will be sharing tasting notes and stories about their wines, which are perfectly matched to the likes of Adelaide cabaret icon Catherine Campbell, comedy queen Lori Bell, musical comedy favourite Libby Trainor Parker, exotic belly dancer Kalikah Jade, and spellbinding songstress Darcy Mae.
Also on the program is encore performance of Extra Curricular, the show for teachers by teachers. Playing at Prompt on the two Friday nights of Cabaret Fringe, this comedy cabaret disguised as a professional development session has sold out Adelaide Fringe two years in a row and covers everything from parent teacher interviews, staffroom politics and the most important date on the entire school calendar, SPORTS DAY.
Strong Female Character, the debut production from Adelaide brazen burlesque babe, Brandy Snap (aka Amy Sincock), will show at Prompt for two nights only, and is a love letter to the women that enhance the stories we love, presented through dance, cabaret, and comedy featuring a lineup of local badass burlesque superstars.
Libby and Matt are beyond thrilled to be hosting award winning, risqué cabaret luminary FRANKLY and their new cabaret experiment Full Spread, which promises to walk the audience through over a decade of songwriting, cherry picking crowd favourites, personal hits and fresh ideas, and masterfully weaving together a collection of unlikely songs in the way only FRANKLY can. This is cabaret for people who hate small talk.
Bourbon & Burlesque is a spicy showcase from local dance school and Prompt co-workers Hot Sauce Burlesque run by the Queen of Tease herself, blonde bombshell Lyra LaBelle, and boasting a lineup of sexy, sassy, sultry and silly performers.
And because they can’t keep off the stage, Libby and Matt will be performing an encore, one night only season of their brand new show, Fashionably Late, a how-to guide to living the life you’ve always wanted. But it’s also a cult. A happiness cult. This is yet another show cabaret couple Libby and Matt hoped would be inspirational and empowering but ended up being both of those things surrounded by butt jokes and rude words. Come join the cult.
And finally, Adelaide's live music scene will collide with cabaret in a night of bands with a flair for the theatrical and story-telling in Guitar Cab. Think guitar, bass and drums but with original narrative songs, inventive re-interpretations and dynamic staging.
This Cabaret Fringe Festival, Libby and Matt invite audiences to enjoy the intimate lounge-bar stylings of Prompt Creative Centre, to try our cocktail specials on offer, and sample some of Adelaide's best cabaret connoisseurs, comics and crooners.
